Raymond Lauterbach

Raymond Ernst "Ray" Lauterbach, 69, of Canyon was received into eternal glory on Monday, December 26, 2016. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5005 W. I-40, Amarillo, with the Rev. Joe Andrajack, pastor of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and Rev. Brian Hesse, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Canyon with Rev. John Elser, officiating.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30 at Brooks Chapel. Ray was born in Austin on February 18, 1947, to Ernst and Annie (Teinert) Lauterbach. He attended Trinity Lutheran School in Austin, Concordia High School and College in Austin, as well as Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He received his B.A. degree from Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Ray was a local farmer on the historic Albers Family Farm. He attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Amarillo, where he sang with the worship team. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas District of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. He married Beth Albers on January 8, 1972 in Houston. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Brenda Owens of West Lafayette, Indiana, Matthew Lauterbach and wife, Angela of Northfield, Minnesota, and Emily Reagan and husband, John of Canyon; as well as six grandchildren, Marine Recruit Derius Jones, Bucky Jones, Raymond Owens, Laura Owens, Kam Reagan, and Robert Owens. He is also survived by one sister, Linda Read, and a large extended family. Ray enjoyed bird-watching, singing and growing plants–and fulfilled his dream of restoring an AMC Javelin.
