Ray Simmons

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, 2008 at the University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, and Dudley McNeill, officiating. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Ray Simmons was born on September 25, 1925 at Memphis, Texas to Isacc and Georgia Liles Simmons. Ray married Mildred Stephens on July 19, 1947 in Abilene, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1998. Ray helped organize the start of the High Plains Children"s Home. He was involved with Camp Blue Haven and 4-H. Ray was a school administrator and farmed most of his life. He was a member of the University Church of Christ. Survivors of Mr. Simmons include two sons, Jonny Simmons and wife, Mickey, of Canyon, Lonny Simmons and wife, Kris, of Seguin, TX; a brother, Melvin Simmons, of Lubbock; six grandchildren and their spouses; and five great grandchildren. The family suggests that memorials be made to the High Plains Children"s Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114.
