Ray Cameron, 92, of Canyon, died Sunday, April 13, 2003 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Dr. Jimmy Nunn, pastor of Oakwood Methodist Church of Lubbock, and Rev. Clark Williams, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery, Claude, Texas. Mr. Cameron was born on September 11, 1910 in Claude, Texas. He married Grace Powell in 1930 at Claude. They moved to Stratford, TX and from there to Temple, Oklahoma where he farmed and ranched for 43 years. He was active on the school board and church for many years. He retired and moved to Claude, then to Lubbock and finally to Canyon where he was living at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995 and by one son, Merle Cameron, in 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Thurman, of Canyon; four grandsons, Steve Thurman, and wife, Jana, of Amarillo, Allan Cameron, and wife, Allison, of Longview, Kenneth Cameron, and wife, Kathy, of Rowlett, and David Thurman, and wife, Carla, of Canyon; six great grandsons, two great granddaughters, and one great, great granddaughter.
