Ranzel "Rusty" Blackwell, 86, of Canyon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Brooks Chapel with Chris Craig officiating. The burial will follow services at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.
Rusty was born on October 20, 1937 in Plainview, Texas to Lynn and Marie Blackwell. He was joined in matrimony to Barbara Hale on December 12, 1959, making their marriage over 60 loving years together. Rusty worked as a meat cutter, at Ideal Supermarket, Buddy's and Lowes Grocery in Canyon for many years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Canyon.
Anyone who knew Rusty knew he was a big flirt and was loved by so many. Rusty and Barbara enjoyed square dancing and bowling together in their younger years. He coached baseball, attended every practice, and was always there to cheer his boys on.
Rusty is preceded in death by his wife and son, Jimmy Blackwell.
Survivors include his son, Johnny Blackwell; 3 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
