Ranes ‘Ray’ Rollins, 62, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Brooks Chapel with Aaron Saavedra, Chaplain, BSA Hospice of the Southwest, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Brooks Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Ray was born on August 13, 1963, at the Amarillo Airforce Base to Ranes George and Clarissa Ellen (Raef) Rollins. He was a 1982 graduate of Caprock High School and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Metro State University in Denver. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for twenty years, stationed at Cherry Point, Camp Pendleton, Fort Bliss, MCB Yuma Proving Ground, and MCB Okinawa, Japan serving as a Low Altitude Air Defense Gunner and Marksmanship Instructor during the Iraq war, as well as Thailand, S. Korea, and the Philippines. He was a member of the Marine Corps Rifle Team and received Division Rifle Competition (Gold and Silver) and National Trophy Rifle Match Badge (Bronze). He was also a certified Scuba Instructor and taught scuba diving while in Okinawa. During his service, he received numerous decorations, medals, and badges including Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, Meritorious Mast, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Pistol Expert Badge. One of Ray’s proudest accomplishments was serving as Project Chief, responsible for the planning and testing of a new military vehicle, the LAVAD (Light Armored Vehicle-Air Defense), which combined a 25mm Gatling gun and Stinger missile, and is still actively used by the Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge at Camp Pendleton, he worked for TXDOT as a District Sign Technician for four years.

Ray enjoyed deep sea fishing, riding four-wheelers and camping at the Sand Dunes, and rebuilding classic and custom cars. He also enjoyed gardening and was fascinated by geology, able to name almost any rock he found.

Ray married Tong Li in Canyon on August 13, 2021, and they attended Paramount Baptist Church where they were active in their Bible Study Group.

Ray is preceded in death by his younger brother, Byron Dion Clay Rollins on December 27, 1985, and his father, Ranes George Rollins on February 7, 2019.

Survivors include his wife, Tong Rollins of Canyon; his children, Joshua Dion Rollins and fiancé, Esther Delgado of New Braunfels, TX, Holly Marie (Rollins) Mccullough and husband, Scott of Gilmer, TX, Byron Ranes Rollins and Ryan Douglas Rollins both of Ogden, Utah, and Xujing (Kaily) Pritchet and husband, Nick of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Brooklyn Elizabeth Ingram and Amelia Jane Pritchet; his parents, Earl and Clarissa Dallas of Amarillo; and his sister, Deirdre T. Rollins-Campos of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
