Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the University Church of Christ with Bob Shepard, Bible Chair Director, and David Lough, minister, officiating. There will be a visitation at Brooks Chapel on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. R.W. "Wayne" McNeill was born on May 11, 1916 in Electra, Texas. He has been a resident of Armstrong County since 1929 where he farmed and ranched. He married Geneva Broom at Quanah on September 22, 1940. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2006. He was an avid hunter, a master wood worker, and a great story teller. He loved his family and entertaining family and friends. He was a member of the University Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Camille Rhodes, in 2005, and his son, John McNeill, in 2004. Survivors include two daughters, Countess Hodges, of Bentonville, AR and Ann Lee Collier, of Happy; one sister, Sweetie Sternenberg, of Canyon; eight grandchildren, Robert Rhodes, Cheri Aab, Mary Jon Huffhines, Kay McNeill, Scott McNeill, Matt Collier, Kirk Collier, and Kathy Matherly; and eighteen great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the High Plains Childrens Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114, or India Missions c/o University Church of Christ, 3400 Conner Dr., Canyon, Texas 79015.
