Penny Downey, 66, of Canyon, went with God on Monday, December 22, 2025. She was born on March 13, 1959 in Herrin, Illinois to Charles Edward and Billie Dove (Harmen) Forbes. No services are scheduled at this time.

Penny grew up in Braidwood Illinois and went to Reed Custer HS. She retired from the Indianapolis Police Department before working at Walmart. Penny had many friends that she grew up with and worked with and regularly kept in touch with them all over the country on social media. Penny was proud of every one of her family and saw the best in each and every one of them. She took great pride in her father’s and brother’s military service. She was deeply devoted to her husband, Joe and all her family, especially her children and precious grandchildren. Her husband, children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and in-laws all loved her deeply. Penny enjoyed walking her dog Bea in Sunday Canyon, greeting all her friends walking the neighborhood. Penny was extremely generous and was always ready to help those in need.

She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents- Edna and Herman Hall, paternal grandparents - Evelyn Gray and James Forbes, her parents, infant brother, Scot, and brother, Clay.

Survivors include her children, Luther (Janie) Winborn, Amanda (Brian) Sirotzki, and Rebecca (Craig) Yordy; and grandchildren, Chancelor Winborn, Mackenzie Winborn, Lucian Winborn, Francesca Sirotzki, Charlotte Sirotzki, Theadora Sirotzki, and Lydia Yordy.

Penny will be greatly missed.
