Paula Jean (Stockton) Leigh, 73, of Canyon, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on November 1, 2024, surrounded by a number of family members. Her cremation arrangements are under the care of Brooks Funeral Directors, with her ashes to be interned late next spring in Shockey Cemetery, Northwest of Ulysses, Kansas with numerous other members of the Leigh family. Paula was born on August 9, 1951, in Bristow, Oklahoma, to Paula and Lawana (Glazner) Stockton. During her childhood she lived and traveled to numerous towns throughout the Great Plains and Midwest while her father pipelined the natural gas network of the region and its towns. During her late teens while living in Ulysses, Kansas, she met and later married a local young man, Charles Leigh, with whom she would share the next 58 wonderful years, traveling the country during his military career and finally settling in Texas.
A devoted homemaker, Paula loved cooking, sewing, and numerous crafts, as well as gardening and canning to provide personal-touch care for her family. Her greatest passion, however, was her painting; primarily oils, but in later years many acrylics and some watercolors, most of which are still displayed throughout her home.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lawana Stockton; her sister, Judy Frederick; and two of her sons, Marcus P. and Charles A. Leigh.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Leigh of Canyon, Texas; a son, Jarod Leigh of Canyon and six grandchildren that she and her husband adopted and raised from an early age; son Charles J. Leigh, daughter Brittany N. Leigh, and son Shawn M. Leigh, all of Canyon; son William P. Leigh of Amarillo, Texas; daughters Amber B. Leigh of Burnett, Texas; and Alissa Erwin of Lometa , Texas. Also, grandson Joseph Leigh of Arkansas City, Kansas; and granddaughter Alana Easterling of Tupelo, Mississippi; as well as 5 great grandchildren.
