Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Hillside Christian Church in Canyon with Sherman Eastland officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Brooks Chapel. Patricia "Tricia" Johnson was born on December 12, 1955 in Abilene to William and Helen Welch Smith. She graduated from Abilene Cooper High School and received her Bachelor of Education from Hardin Simmons University. She then received her Master of Education from Texas A&M University. She married John Johnson on August 16, 1986 in Amarillo. Tricia taught Algebra and Physical Education and was assistant swim coach at Amarillo High School. She also taught at Whittier Elementary School and Bushland. She taught in Phoenix, AZ for numerous years and upon returning to Canyon, she taught for one year at Tulia High School. She loved exercising, hiking and the outdoors and it was important to her to instill in her students a love of lifelong activities. She was a great wife and mother and will be fondly remembered for her vibrant personality and ability to make everything fun. She loved to laugh and never met a stranger. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Canyon. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, John Johnson, of Canyon; her daughter, Lindsey Johnson, of Flagstaff, AZ; two sons, Marcus Johnson, of Glorieta, NM and Hayden Johnson and wife, Kristen, of Little Rock, AR; one brother, James Smith and wife, Mary, of Abilene; two sisters, Susan Walker and husband, Mike, of Abilene and Linda Clark and husband, Craig, of Crossville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
