Pat Sullivan

Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Canyon with Rev. Debra Huffman, pastor, officiating. Dr. Pat Sullivan was born on February 5, 1924 to Murt J. and Bert B. Boykin Sullivan in Comanche, Texas. He married Loyce Avant in Hereford on July 31, 1954. He received his doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin, after completing his undergraduate work at Texas Tech University. He was a Professor of English at West Texas State University for 33 years. He was a member of the Texas and National Associations of Teachers of English, Texas Association of College Teachers, Texas Retired Teachers Association, and Canyon Retired Teachers. Pat was also a member of the First Christian Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He was involved in the United Campus Ministries for over 20 years. He was a past President of Canyon Cares and a WWII U.S. Army veteran. Pat had been a resident of Canyon since1959 until he moved to the metroplex in June of 2007. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Stella Smith. Surviovrs include his wife, Loyce, of Bedford; daughter, Susan Sullivan, of Bedford; son, Mark Sullivan and wife, Christie, of Houston; brothers, Murt Sullivan, of Groveland, California and Jimmy Wagnon, of Elizabeth, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Patrick Thomas Sullivan, of Houston, and Gray David Sullivan, of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
