Ovelinda Herrera

Ovelinda Herrera, 76, of Happy passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 29 at Happy's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Curtis House, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow at Happy Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Ovelinda was born December 30, 1941 in La Blanca, Texas to Pilar and Aurora Diaz San Miguel. She married Ventura Herrera in October of 1961 in Plainview. She was a teacher's aide for many years in Tulia, Happy, and Canyon schools. She loved to cook for people and always put other's needs before her own. She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a baby sister. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ventura; four children, Ofelia Fleming and husband, Russell, Ventura Herrera, Jr., Daniel Herrera and wife, Pam, and Albert Herrera and wife, Crystal; five grandchildren, Julie Sorrells and husband, Michael, Scott Fleming and wife, Caitlin, Alexander Ethan Herrera, Maley P. Encinias, and Madison B. Encinias; three great grandchildren; and four brothers. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
