Orion Aaron Garcia

Orion Aaron Garcia, 34, of Canyon, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2026. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with David Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.

Born on March 19, 1992, in Hereford, Texas, to Benito Foster Garcia and Prescillia Valadez, Orion grew up in Hereford before making Canyon home, where he lived surrounded by the family he loved so fiercely.

Orion was not a man who needed to be the loudest person in the room. In fact, he was often quiet and a little shy at first. But once he got to know you, and you got to know him, you discovered the real Orion: absolutely hysterical, quick-witted, and capable of making people laugh until they cried. He had a rare way of making everyone around him feel seen, valued, and important. Once you were in Orion’s circle, you were family.

For the past 21 years, Beth Garcia had the privilege of being his mother in every way that mattered. When Beth married his father, Ben, she didn’t simply become a stepmother; she helped raise Orion, loved him, and stood beside him through all of his life’s events. Along with his mother, Prescillia Valadez, Orion was deeply loved by both of the women who helped shape the man he became.

Much like his mythical namesake, Orion was strong both physically and in character. He was an incredible football player and proudly served as captain of his high school team. Later, he became an avid golfer, and anyone who watched him swing knew that when Orion hit the ball, he really hit the ball. Strength, however, was only one part of who he was. His greatest strength was his fierce loyalty to the people he loved.

Orion was a protector. He was the guy you wanted in your corner. He worked harder than just about anyone and could be counted on without question. He moved to Canyon not only to be closer to his family, but to help care for and raise his younger brother and his nephew, Adan. Family was never just a word to Orion; it was what he lived for.

He especially loved his sister, Ariel, who was also his best friend. She annoyed him often, as sisters are supposed to do, but there was nothing he would not do for her. He loved his brothers, Zion and Moses, his sister Alijah, and especially his nephew Adan, helping to guide them as they grew. Orion had a way of making the people around him feel protected, supported, and loved, even when he didn’t say much.

His loyalty extended far beyond blood relatives. His lifelong friend Joe Morrison was family, and Orion loved being part of Joe’s family, showing up for his children’s games, family events, and all the ordinary moments that ultimately become the most important ones. Jose Uvalde, Manual Salazar and Joe T. were also among the lifelong friends who held a special place in his heart.

Orion loved his music, especially rap, and was a talented musical artist himself. He was a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan, remaining loyal through the good seasons, the bad seasons, and all the seasons in between because apparently loyalty applied to football too. He was an avid gamer, and many nights ended with Orion loudly cursing at whatever game had offended him most recently, followed by that unmistakable giggle when he finally got the drop on an opponent.

And then there was Rocko…

For a man who was by all accounts a giant, Orion somehow ended up with the tiniest Chihuahua imaginable. Rocko was often carried around on Orion’s hand like a little statue, a sight that perfectly captured one of the many contradictions that made Orion so uniquely Orion. He could be intimidatingly strong, fiercely protective, and larger than life—and still walk around carrying a tiny dog in the palm of his hand.

Above all, Orion loved his family, and he loved Christ. His faith was not something he simply talked about; it was part of his daily life. He faithfully engaged in morning devotionals and attended church services with his sister Ariel. His relationship with Christ was deeply personal and sincerely important to him.

Orion left an impression on people. Everyone who truly knew him was changed for the better because they had known him. His humor, loyalty, strength, kindness, and unforgettable laugh will live on in the people he loved and the lives he touched.

He was, quite simply, the OG.

Orion is survived by his parents, Ben and Beth Garcia and Prescillia Valadez; his sisters, Ariel Garcia and Alijah Arredondo; his brothers, Zion Garcia and Moses Arredondo; his beloved nephew, Adan Gonzalez; his grandmothers, Petra Esqueda and Olivia Valadez; his faithful dog, Rocko; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who were family in every sense of the word. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jose M. Garcia Sr., Jacinto Esqueda, and Valdemar Valadez; his uncles, Ruben Garcia and Chuck Garcia; and his cousin, Mallory Garcia.

He will be missed beyond words, loved beyond measure, and remembered exactly as he was: strong, loyal, funny, stubborn, faithful, protective, completely himself, and impossible to replace.
