Ora Sims

Ora Mary Sims was born on December 2, 1923 in Happy to Jim & Sara Gurley. She graduated from Happy High School and from the University of Texas. She was a member of Kappa Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity. She was general advisor to Delta Eta Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity at West Texas State University and was National Mother"s Club Chairman of Zeta Tau Alpha. She was also Mother Advisor for Happy Rainbow Assembly #202 and Worthy Matron of Happy Order of the Eastern Star #562. She served as president of Happy Woman"s Study Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Happy, then the First United Methodist Church of Happy. Ora married Eugene Sims in Amarillo in March of 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene Sims, two sons-in-law, George Tirey and Jerry Wilbourn, and her brother, Bob Gurley. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Srubar and husband, Albert, of Abbott, Texas, and Sara Tirey, of Happy; five grandchildren, Jim & Brandy Tirey, of Plainview, Laura & Robby Bow, of Happy, Jennifer & Cody Spivey, Jerret & Lindsey Wilbourn, and Brant & Ashly Wilbourn, all of Magnolia; and seven great grandchildren, Grayson, Sawyer, and Graham Tirey, of Plainview, Sadie and T.S. Bow, of Happy, and Josie and Jake Spivey, of Magnolia.
