October 8, 1920 — May 29, 2017

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at First Christian Church with Rev. Mark Weathers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Nola was born October 8, 1920, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Robert Glenn Blue and Nellie Burger Blue. She was raised in Canyon and in Hereford, graduating from Hereford High School in 1937. She continued her education at West Texas Teachers College in Canyon, graduating with a degree in business and music in 1942. Immediately thereafter, she married Sam M. Jolly, a union that lasted more than fifty years before his passing in 1993. After his service in World War II, they settled in Amarillo, then made their final move to Canyon in 1955. For 29 years, they were independent distributors of the Amarillo Daily News and Amarillo Globe-Times, managing hundreds of paperboys and enjoying countless sunrises and sunsets while delivering the news. She also served her church, First Christian Church of Canyon, as Choir Director for more than twenty years. Nola was predeceased by her husband, her parents, twin infant daughters, Janet and Joy, in 1947, and a son-in-law, Milton Jackson. The family deeply appreciates the tender loving care care given to Nola in her last days by Sandra Vasquez and Lora Camp and by her church family and many friends throughout her long, wonderful life. She is survived by her son, Mike Jolly, and wife, Dana, of Georgetown, Texas; her daughter, Pamela Jolly O'Gorman, and husband, James, of the home; and her sister, Marcella Bradly, of Hereford. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer Jolly-Byars, and husband, Billy Byars, of Allen, Texas; Michael Jolly, MD, and wife, Kristin, of Powell, Ohio; David Jolly of Allen, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren.
