Services will be at 1:00 PM. on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Follett Chapel, Follett, Texas with Rev. Damon Deaton, pastor of Faith Community Church of Canyon, and Rev. Doc Methvin, pastor of the Congregational Church of Follett, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Follett, Texas. Mr. Brown was born on October 26, 1914 to W.R. and Cora Brown at the family home in Beaver County, Oklahoma near the community of Ivanhoe. He graduated from Follett High School in 1932 where he was active in all athletics. He had two brothers and three sisters. Upon graduation, he attended Coyne Electronic School in Chicago. On September 3, 1938, he married Madelene Avah Woods of Beaver, Ok. in Buffalo, Ok. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. They resided in Follett, Texas for 61 years and then moved to Canyon in 2000. After their marriage, Mr. Brown worked at Follett National Bank and then various partnerships in Follett until he was drafted in 1945 by the U.S. Navy. He returned from WWII and went to work for the REA wiring many of the homes in the panhandle area. He then operated the Western Farm Implement & Equipment Co. before he opened Brown Radio & TV where he sold and serviced appliances until his retirement in 1976. Upon retirement, Mr. Brown enjoyed camping with family in their travel trailer and spending time at their cabin in Colorado. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Elaine Brown, in 1981. Survivors include his wife, Madelene, of the home; one daughter, Jean Ann Hamilton , of Lubbock; one son, Nolan Brown, and wife, Janie, of Canyon; one sister, Wilma Nosler, of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Brian Hamilton, and wife, Terri, of Wichita, KS, J"Non McNiel, and husband, Jerry, of Brownfield, Brent Brown, of Austin, and Stephen Brown, of Dhaka, Bangladesh; two great grandchildren, Rachel Daugherty and Grant McNiel; two step great grandchildren, Elaine and Rena McNiel; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to your favorite charity.
