Plank was born on October 29, 1917 in Miami, Texas to Milton and Ruby Cannon Leslie. She attended school in Higgins and then graduated from Pampa High School where she played basketball. After graduation, she worked for an electrician office and as a Southwestern Bell Operator. She married John Sunday Plank in 1937 in Arnett. They built their home in Pampa themselves and later moved to Tulia to farm. They then moved to Hereford where Neoma stayed busy raising her five children. In 1950 the family moved northwest of Canyon where she enjoyed supporting her children in all their activities, gardening, and canning her vegetables. After John preceded her in death in 1969, Neoma started working at the First Baptist Church in Canyon where she was Preschool Director and church secretary for many years. She had a love and talent for many things to include watercolor painting, flowers, gardening, embroidery, quilting, love for animals, reading, and genealogy. Active in the church, Home Demonstration Club, 4-H and raising her children, Neoma has been an inspiration to all that knew her. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Plank Whinnery, a grandson, Cyrus Clark Whinnery, and a son-in-law, Gary L. Harbert. Survivor include three sons, Rhett Plank and wife, Beverly, John L. Plank and wife, Linda, and Daryl Plank and wife, Holly; her daughter, Laura Harbert; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
