Nathan L. Rich, 82, of Canyon, passed away on June 15, 2024. He was born on July 2, 1941 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Charles and Elzie (Smith) Rich. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1958 to 1962.
Nathan married Maxine Mendell on November 21, 1986 in Las Vegas, NV and they moved to Canyon in 1993. He was a truck driver, driving for Coca Cola for 13 years and then Walmart for 20 years.
Nathan loved motorcycles and corvettes, and his family, in fun, referred to him as 'The King of Toys'...the faster the better! He was known for his love of adventure and enjoyed traveling and fishing, but Nathan's greatest love was for his family and many friends.
Nathan is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Terry Rich, sister-in-law, Judy Fields, brother, Charles Rich, Jr., father- and mother-in-law, and the mother of his children, Dr. Karen Rich.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Rich of Canyon; son, Travis Rich of Dallas; daughter, Michelle Williams and husband, Cody of Plainview and their children, Barron and Brooke; brother, Harley Fields of Henderson, NV; three nieces and their families, Christy Sowders and husband, Lee, Cindy Wertzler and husband, Dennis, and Rhonda Fields; brother-in-law, Terry Schank and wife, Tammy of Plainview and their children; and his 'chosen family', his many friends that he loved dearly.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to destroyers.org to support the Tin Can Sailor Association or to the Amarillo SPCA, 119011 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79119.
