Myrtle Manning

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Corky Holland, minister of senior adults at the First Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Myrtle was born on December 30, 1921 in Aspermont to Eunice and Margaret Lanier Smith. She was a graduate of Draughn Business College. Myrtle married Raymond Cecil Manning in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1965. Myrtle was a jeweler at Cizon's in Amarillo for 41 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. In 2015, she moved to Canyon after being a resident of Amarillo since 1946. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leona Brown; and a brother, Chester Frank Smith. Survivors include her sister, Ele Maxine Sherrod of Canyon; three nephews, Clifford Sherrod of Canyon, Andy Sherrod of Los Angeles, CA and Keith Smith of Ruidoso, NM; a niece, Carol Janet of Roswell, NM; and two cousins, Clifford B. Hunter and Evelyn Ray Hunter both of Bryan. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel.
