Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at First Family Church in Amarillo with Russell Chandler and Rev. Mark Rector, pastor of Church Alive, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Monte Alvin Chandler was born on April 17, 1937 in Plainview to Lester Boone and Leta Landrum Chandler. He married the love of his life, Lela Turner, in Amarillo on November 20, 1955. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He established Chandler and Sons Concrete in 1973. Monte loved writing gospel and country music and playing his guitar at family gatherings. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Chandler, and two sisters, Athalene Douglas and Marjorie McCauley. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lela Chandler, of Amarillo; three sons, Monte Darrell Chandler and wife, Gwen, Terry Allen Chandler and wife, Lesa, and Myrron Kelly Chandler and daughter-in-law, Brenda Chandler, all of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Kennedy, of Tucumcari, NM and Gae Griffith, of Missouri.
