Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Dreamland Cemetery with Rev. Gene Jones, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Mike R. McDonald was born on October 21, 1945 in San Francisco, CA to Weldon and Elna Green McDonald. He taught English at Vega High School for 25 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Palo Duro Creek Golf Club. Mike loved dogs, especially his granddogs. He was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, Joyce McDonald. Survivors include two daughters, Trisha Wilson and husband, Bobby, and Lori Bain and husband, Kelly, all of Amarillo; a brother, Tom McDonald and wife, Shirley, of Durant, OK; three grandchildren, Bree Davis, of Amarillo, Cara Chambers, of Colorado, and Keelan Bain, of New York; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his longtime friend, Deborah Sue McDonald, of Vega and her children, Randi Sue Franklin, of Vega and Shane Qualls, of Amarillo.
