Mike Hudson, 75, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Randy Henson officiating.
Mike was born on April 1, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico to Paul and Floy (Pearson) Hudson. He married Blanche Perschbacher on December 23, 1967 in Clayton, NM. Mike earned his degree in Animal Science from West Texas State University and was a rancher for many years. After ranching, they moved to Canyon in 1988 and he worked at the American Quarter Horse Association until retirement.
Mike was instrumental in the operations and re-construction of the Red River Community House in Red River, NM. Over the last seven years, he volunteered much of his time there. From remodeling to audio visual support, Mike loved supporting a community and organization he loved. The Community House was a place where members of the community could participate in fun activities and enjoy fellowship with one another.
Mike loved building and was an exceptional handyman, using his skills to help others. Regardless of the project, Mike always knew what to do. He was happy to loan his tools, but preferred sharing his time and a helping hand. Mike also enjoyed anything outdoors, including fishing and snowmobiling. He taught his sons the art of fly fishing, an activity they enjoyed together throughout the years. Mike especially enjoyed playing games with grandchildren. However, Mike's greatest love was Blanche, his wife of 54 years. From square dancing to traveling, they were always by each other's side. Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon and Canyon Kiwanis Club.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Hudson; two sons, Kyle Hudson and wife, Stephanie, and Jason Hudson and wife, Michelle; five grandchildren, Emily, Ashley, and Molly Hudson, and Katelyn and Brett Hudson; sister, Jan Mires; and additional extended family members.
