Michael Perry Slack passed away May 6, 2024.
Mike was born in Randall County, Texas on December 7, 1954 to Shirley and Bryce Slack Jr.
He possessed a naturally sweet and kind soul for his entire life. Mike was welcomed to this world by his big sister, Lynette, and soon their siblings, James and Lori, came along to complete the Slack family. They held a bond that will never be broken.
Mike grew up in both Amarillo and Canyon, graduating from Canyon High School in 1973. He loved and excelled in band, art, and writing short stories. Mike also loved scouting, snow skiing and camping.
Mike worked hard his entire life. He helped from a very young age on the family farm. One summer, he ran off to Philmont scout camp causing great worry for the family for a few days until they got a postcard saying he found a job at the camp and loved using his days off to hike.
Michael worked for Borden's for many years until he moved to Oregon. He continued to hike and camp with his step- children, Charles Finnerson, Terina Hodgson and Shallimar Zitacuaro.
As we say goodbye let us remember his love, laughter, and light. We cherished every moment he was with us.
We want to thank some special care givers for many years of care and love, Dr. Jim and Helen Greer - he loved you.
Mike leaves behind his siblings, children, and many nieces and nephews: James Slack, Lynette McCoy, Lori Armstrong, Sheredy Conley, Tammy Beins, Josie McCoy, Samuel Armstrong, Darcy Armstrong, and Caleb Armstrong.
The family will have a private memorial service in the summer.
