Mary Whitten

Mary E. Whitten, 85, of Canyon passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018.  Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor David Crump officiating.  Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mary E. Whitten was born on May 21, 1932 in Whitehead, Oklahoma to R. E. and Cordie Davis White.  She worked on the staff at West Texas State University for over thirty years.  Mary volunteered at Friends of the Library and Canyon Cares for many years.  She was preceded in death by one son, Elmer "Red" Whitten. Survivors include two sons, Lynn Whitten and wife Donna, and Evan Whitten and wife Cindy; a sister, Joyce Dickey; ten grandchildren, April Catherine, Nicole, Eric, Levi, Jamie, Jeffrey, April Dawn, Michael, Krystal, and Andy; and nineteen great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be to Friends of the Library, 1501 3rd Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015 or Canyon Cares, 1719 5th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
