Mary Ella Robutz, 94, died March 27, 2016 in Canyon, Texas. Mary Ella was born September 24, 1921 in Royal Oaks, Michigan to William and Emily Rutherford. She served in the US Army overseas during WWII. She earned a post graduate law degree and then worked as an attorney with law offices in Azusa, California. She was the first woman president of the Pomona Valley Bar Association. She also taught classes in probate at La Verne University. She retired in 2003 and moved to Apple Valley, California and then to Canyon in 2013. Mary Ella was an active member of several organizations including: St. Hilary's Episcopal Church, Pomona Valley Bar Association, Soroptomists, American Legion, V.F.W., Eastern Bar Association of Los Angeles County, The Women's Memorial of Washington, D.C., State Bar Association of California, Daughters of the King, and numerous civil organizations. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Powell; and two brothers, Ralph Rutherford and William Rutherford. Survivors include daughter, Patricia Jo Whitlow; son-in-law, Michael Wade Whitlow; granddaughter, Joley Kae Deerman and husband, Brook; grandson, Sam Cody Teel and wife, Tarra; great granddaughter, Madison Kaye Deerman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
