Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Canyon with Dr. David L. Lowrie, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, March 4 at the Conner House in Canyon from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Mary McBroom was born on July 1, 1922 in Tell, Texas, Childress County, to William Carrol and Sarah Osborn. She married O.A. "Boots" McBroom on June 16, 1946 in Clovis, NM and she has been a Randall County resident since then. She was a graduate of West Texas State Teachers College and taught school for 35 years, 4 years at Paducah, 1 year at Lockney, and 30 years at Happy, endearing herself to students all over the Panhandle. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery faithfully for many years and volunteered in the office answering the phone. She was also a member of Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and Canyon Retired Teachers. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, O.A. "Boots" McBroom, of the home; one sister, Bess Littrell, of Dumas; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Dreamland Cemetery, PO Box 38, Canyon, Texas 79015, First Baptist Church, 1717 4th Avenue, Canyon, Texas 79015, or to a favorite charity.
