Martin Darrell Rogers, 72, of Tulia, passed away at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center on Sunday, June 1, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with David Bagwell officiating.
Darrell was born on March 19, 1953 in Bell County, Texas to Rex Darrell and Marie (Meester) Rogers. He was a graduate of Silverton High School and attended West Texas State University. He spent most of his life living in Amarillo before returning to the family farm near Vigo Park after his parents' passing.
Darrell was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he enjoyed being an Army Scout. He worked as an operator and mechanic on heavy equipment for various Amarillo businesses and then was self-employed as a backhoe operator after leaving the city. He was an entrepreneur by nature and was rarely without lots to do, taking care of business as long as his health allowed. Although he was eager to leave the farm in his younger years, he really savored being on the family farm later in life. He enjoyed motorcycles early in life and again later when one of his favorite hobbies became riding motorcycles with his son.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Glenda Shields Rogers, brother, Rusty Rogers, and sister, Sherry Rhondell Rogers.
Survivors include his son, Billy Rogers of Amarillo; nephew, Zach Rogers; and niece, Emily Williamson.
Because of Darrell's deep love for dogs, the family suggests memorials be made to your local animal shelter.
