Martha Elizabeth "Beth" Remlinger

October 14, 1939 — October 11, 2022

Martha Elizabeth (Beth) Remlinger, 83, of Canyon, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Enns officiating.

Beth Johnson Remlinger was born on October 14, 1939, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Leonard Wright Johnson and Evie Lou Hawkins Johnson.

Beth graduated from Blytheville High School where she participated in cheerleading and was selected Senior Queen. She went on to seek a degree in education at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.

She was a lifelong teacher and learner. She spent most of her career at Canyon High School where she taught English and loved her Eagles. She cared for all "kids". She was known for pushing students to do their absolute best. Giving straight A students their first B because she saw in them the ability to do more. While at the same time recognizing, acknowledging, and embracing students who she knew weren't college bound but who aspired to go help on the family farm or open their own mechanics shop or whatever their chosen path might be and was willing to lend an ear, give advice and move them down the "educational track" so they could graduate, get to the work at hand and achieve her dreams. She called them all "My kids". She met them all individually, where they were and supported them. Teachers, as you know wear many hats. Mom had quite a few hats.

Upon retiring from CHS, she took on the task of leading educational tours at The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. This volunteer position required her to learn about gems, pioneer life, and the Native Americans of the Plains. She then taught school children of all ages what she had learned and the wonders inside the museum.

Once she fully retired, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, reading on her little back porch, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies all year long.

Beth was the most wonderful mother to three children. Sarah Bush Nuckolls (Joe) of Lubbock, Rachel Bush Byrd (Danny) of Canyon, and Roger Remlinger (Lizzette) of Canyon. She is also the Nan to ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Nan was quick to jump on the texting bandwagon so she could keep in touch with her grandkids. She loved to let them know when to step outside to look into the heavens at the special Blood Moon or watch for a meteor shower. She closed each text with an "I love you sweetheart!" For a little mom, she loved us HUGE.

Memorials may be given to the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, 2503 4th Avenue; Canyon, Texas 79015.
