Mark Allen Hargrave

Mark Allen Hargrave, 71, longtime resident of Happy, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Harvest Connexion Church in Amarillo with Curtis House, Senior Pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Happy Cemetery.

Mark was born on December 2, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona to Robert and Patricia Lou (Wheat) Hargrave. He was a 1973 graduate of Happy High School and received his bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University where he was a dedicated member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

Mark married Karen Murdock at the First Methodist Church in Happy on December 30, 1976. He owned Tulia Livestock Auction and Texhoma Livestock Exchange, dedicating his life to his passion, trading horses and cattle. His second love was steer roping, receiving his PRCA card and competing professionally in rodeos, his favorite being Cheyenne. He also enjoyed deer hunting and watching all sports. One of his favorite pastimes was playing Fantasy Football with his family, and he was known for his mischievous texts in the early morning hours to change players before the next game. He was thrilled that he actually won this year! He treasured his family and trips with them, going to concerts and snow skiing, were special memories for all of them. Lovingly known as ‘Peeps’ by his grandchildren, some of his greatest joys were taking them with him to work the cattle and ride horses and planning family fun trips with Lily.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Karen Hargrave of the home; two sons, Beau Hargrave and wife, Gloria of Happy, and Tyler Hargrave and wife, Rachel of Canyon; his sister, Tricia Odom and husband, Kyle of Happy; three grandchildren, Lilian Hargrave, and Taylor and Tristen Hargrave; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to the Harvest Connexion Mission Fund, 4808 S. Bonham St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
