Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns officiating. Private Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Marian Frances Hefley was born on January 12, 1923 in Bloomington, IL to Ida and Frank Gillespey. She graduated from Colfax, Illinios High School and attended Brown's Business College in Bloomington. She worked as a legal secretary in Illinios and Portland, Oregon. She married Jess Whitlock in 1971, and he preceded her in death in 1979. She married D.W. Hefley in 1988. They moved to Wheeler in 1990 to be close to his mother, and after her death, they moved to Canyon. He preceded her in death in 2000. Marian has traveled extensively, not only in the United States, but also eight countries in Europe, England, Hawaiian Islands, and Cuba. She was active doing volunteer work at Palo Duro Canyon State Park and First United Methodist Church where she was a member. She was also a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Marian was also preceded in death by her only brother, Frank Gillespey, Jr., a son, Richard McCollum, and a grandson, Joel Clark. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Clark and husband, John, of Clatskanie, OR, and Janine Orsenigo and Peter Dibble, of Eastham, MA; a son, David McCollum, of San Diego, CA; a step-daughter Terri Olsen and husband, Kerry, of Kingman, AZ; seven grandchildren; four great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tammy and Dennis Ball, of Eastham, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church, 1818 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015, or a favorite charity.
