She graduated from Canyon High School in 1935,and graduated from West Texas Normal College in 1939, taught elementary art in Vega for a year, then married Roy Ransom August 10, 1940. She would spend her next 51 years as a wife and mother on a cattle ranch southwest of Claude. In 1991, Margaret moved to Canyon where she excelled as a grandmother and amateur artist. Mrs. Ransom loved her grandkids and believed in their education. All who wanted to go to college were helped financially by their Mamaw. As an artist, Margaret gained inspiration from her years on the ranch with oils and watercolors featuring everything from barnyard chickens to Palo Duro Canyon landscapes. Although she downplayed her talent, her successes are proudly displayed on the walls of her children and grandchildren. Margaret loved the Lord Jesus and enjoyed telling others about him. She and Roy were members of Westcliff Bible Church in Amarillo, and in Canyon, Margaret attended First Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters and her husband. Survivors include a son, Walter and wife Gale of Garland; three daughters, Charlotte and husband Mike Bellah of Canyon, Marianne Hammerschmidt of Austin, and Virginia Ransom of Vienna, Austria. Margaret had 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family suggests that memorials be made to Hidden Falls Ranch, P.O. Box 136, Wayside, Texas 79094.
