Manuel Galvan

Manuel R. Galvan, Sr., 69, of Canyon, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, with Rev. Ruben Ramirez, associate pastor of Tree of Life Church in San Angelo, officiating. Mr. Galvan was born on June 18, 1932 in Del Rio, Texas to Jose and Brigida Reyes Galvan and attended school at Del Rio. He married Maria O. Gonzales in Del Rio in 1965. He moved to Hereford in 1969 and was employed as a truck driver. He then went to work at Dawn Coop and retired after twenty-three years there. He moved to Canyon in 1985 and worked for Canyon Independent School District and then WTAMU as custodian. Survivors include his wife, Maria O. Galvan, of Canyon; three daughters, Blanca Monciviez, of Del Rio, Edna Martinez, of Levelland, and Belinda Perales, of Canyon; three sons, Manuel Galvan, Jr., of San Antonio, Michael Rodriguez, of San Antonio, and Clemente Galvan, of Del Rio; two step-daughters, Janie R. Gallegos, of Hereford, and Romelia T. Gutierrez, of San Antonio; one step-son, Benito A. Torres, of San Angelo; step-mother, Carmen Galvan, of Del Rio; one brother, Ray Galvan, of Del Rio; two sisters, Josepha Torres, of Del Rio, and Elida Carabajal, of Del Rio; thirty grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren.
