Services will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Canyon with Rev. John McClean, pastor, officiating. Burial will be 4:00 p.m on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Tell Methodist Cemetery in Tell, Texas. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2007 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Lynda Garrison Wirt, went to be with the Lord August 23, 2007. She was born in Childress, Texas on September 26, 1940. Lynda loved to travel and go on fun vacations with her family. She also made frequent trips to visit Robin and her family in The Woodlands. Every day was a celebration; she lived her life to the fullest and encouraged her family and those she knew and loved to do so as well. She never met a stranger, and she had a wonderful way with people. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is best remembered for her kind, loving heart and her fun sense of humor. She was affectionately known as "Nana" to Natalie and Nickolas and being a grandmother was the joy of her life. Lynda was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon. She graduated from Childress High School class of 1958 and recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas. After moving to Canyon in 1973, she opened the Towne Shop, a retail clothing store, and remained in business on the square in Canyon until 1985. She then worked for Texas Farm Bureau in Canyon. She was currently employed with the City of Amarillo as a Library Assistant at the Amarillo East Branch Public Library. She thoroughly enjoyed her job and deeply loved the people she worked with and all the patrons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Garrison and Bobbie Garrison of Childress, and a brother, Tommy Garrison of Childress. She is survived by her beloved daughter and son in law, Robin and Steven O"Neal, granddaughter, Natalie O"Neal and grandson, Nickolas O"Neal all of The Woodlands, Texas; nephews, Tom Garrison of Laredo, Shawn Garrison of Tell, and Reagan Garrison of Childress; and her stepmother, Alda Beth Garrison of Childress.
