Luther Presley "Pres" Kennamer was born September 11, 1923 in Haskell County, Texas to Homer Gross and Lucy Summers Kennamer. He was the oldest of their six children. Pres led a truly blessed life and admitted so almost daily. He began his strong work ethic at the ripe age of 10 years and maintained it until his death. Pres met his future wife when he was 3 years old and they were truly lifelong friends. During WWII, he served courageously in the Army Air Corps and flew gliders during the invasion of France. Later he piloted C-47's and dropped supplies to the GI's fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his return from WWII, Pres married Eva Marie Lewis on December 3, 1945. Pres and Eva did not have children of their own, but welcomed all children with open arms and loving hearts. Pres and Eva will be sorely missed in the community and especially by their extended family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Homer Gross Kennamer, Jr., Texie Ann Kennamer Lucas, Mickey Lee Kennamer, and Beatrice Kennamer Boyles. A special thank you to Dr. Anita Ravipati and all the staff at Harrington Cancer Center for their excellent and tender care. Survivors include his brother, Alfred Kennamer, of Houston; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorials may be sent to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79605 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 6977 Main St., Houston, TX 77030.
