Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Happy's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Happy, officiating. Luis Gandara was born on November 9, 1950 in Guadalupe, Mexico to Luis and Concepion Chavira Gandara. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as Private First Class in the Vietnam War. He loved listening to his Mexican music and traveling, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Luis was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and six brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Michell Johnston and husband, Terry and Erica Reyes and husband, Jesse; four grandchildren, Tyler Whitsett, Cameron Reyes, Dylan Reyes, and Emilie Reyes; and five sisters. The family suggests memorials be to Ussary Roan State Veterans Home, for the treatment of PTSD, 1020 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79106 or to the First United Methodist Church of Happy, PO Box 56, Happy, TX 79042.
