Lucy Labrie

Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Canyon with Rev. Don Stribling and Rev. Mark D. Heaney officiating. Lucy S. LaBrie was born on July 1, 1938 in Ohio to Walter and Hannah Gill Schaefer. She graduated from Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia with a Bachelor of Education degree. She married David LaBrie on July 21, 1962 in Steubenville, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2004. Lucy served as Librarian at Canyon Junior High School for over twenty years. She worked with Canyon Cares and the Canyon Public Library for many years and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon for forty years. She is survived by one son, Walter LaBrie and wife, Jessica, of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Gwynne Walker and husband, Jeff, of Dawn; and three grandchildren, Turner and Schaefer LaBrie, of Norfolk, VA, and Hannah Walker, of Dawn. The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church Choir Scholarship Fund, PO Box 358, Canyon, Texas 79015, or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109.
