Lucille Evelyn Davis, 97, of La Pine, Oregon, formerly of Canyon, Texas, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 in La Pine, OR. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2003 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, Texas with Rev. Kevin Deckard, pastor of Westover Fellowship Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born on March 18, 1906 in Allen, Texas to William and Nola Spurgeon Haley. She married Earnest T. Davis and they farmed and ranched in Silverton, Plainview, and Texline for fifty years, twenty-two of those in Texline. He preceded her in death and she moved to Canyon where she lived for twenty-one years and was very active in the Methodist church and Eastern Star. She enjoyed china painting, playing bridge and traveling. She was also preceded in death by two younger sisters, Weta Hill and Glenna Wilson/Garrison, and one younger brother, Bennett Haley. She has lived at the Prairie House in La Pine, Oregon, near her sister for the past two years. She was loved by everyone she met, a true lady, very caring, generous, and thoughtful and will be greatly missed. Survivors include one sister, Claudine Green, of La Pine, Oregon; six nieces and nephews, Brad Wilson, of Costa Mesa, CA, Robert Hill, of Amarillo, Jack Green, of La Pine, Oregon, Susie Reid, of Midland, Deanna Pipkin, of Fresno, CA, and Bill Haley, of Van Alystine, TX; several great nieces and nephews and many loving friends. The family suggests memorials be to Newberry Hospice of La Pine, Oregon, or First United Methodist Church of Canyon, Texas.
