Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 24, 2013 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Robbins Family Cemetery, Caddo Gap, AR. Loyd L. Short was born on November 21, 1916 in Caddo Gap, AR to James and Eula Gladden Short. He married Nellie Robbins on February 7, 1935 in Caddo Gap. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. They moved to White Deer in 1947 and then to Canyon in 1983. He worked as a pumper for Service Drilling Company until his retirement. Loyd served as past Master for the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the First Methodist Church of White Deer. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo Short, and James Jr. Short, and a grandson, Trevor Burrell. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Short, of the home; three sons, Larry L. Short and wife, Sammye, of Decatur, Roger L. Short and wife, Tina, of Canyon, and Mike Short and wife, Linda, of White Deer; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Robbins Family Cemetery% Debbie Kibbey, 110 Adventist Church Road, Bonnerdale, AR 71933.
