Loudene West

Delores Loudene Taylor, 91, passed away on May 19, 2024 in Amarillo, Tx. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Brooks Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Brooks Chapel.

Loudene was born April 30, 1933, in Berlin, Oklahoma to Silas Taylor and Bessie Maude Hix Taylor. She married Billy Eugene West of Reydon, Oklahoma on June 3, 1950. They were married 61 wonderful years before his passing in 2011.

Their children include Terry Wester and husband, Ric, of Amarillo, Bill and wife Judy of Canyon, and Kelley and Laurent of Jonestown. She had 6 grandchildren that were the loves of her life and was blessed with 9 great grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon since moving there in the early 1960's.

Loudene is proceeded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, sister Jo Brown and infant daughter, Beverly.

She was an in-home babysitter until 1968 when she started working at the District Clerks Office, retiring from there to travel. She and Bill were founding members of Good Sams Club Canyon Chapter and created wonderful memories traveling across country in their R.V. along with several trips across the world.

Her love, smile and dedication to friends and family will be missed. A special thanks from her family to her roommate, Joyce Stinsen, who cared for her, and the staff at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to Canyon Senior Citizens Center.
