Lorraine Johnson

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Brooks Chapel with Bob Shepard, Elder and Bible Chair Director, University Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Lorraine Johnson was born on October 26, 1921 in Rotan, Texas to Samuel and Nellie Pullen Marr. She married Craig Johnson at Lubbock on November 18, 1941 and they moved to Canyon in 1954. She received her Bachelor"s degree from Texas Tech University and her Master of Education at West Texas State University. She taught English and Reading at Canyon Jr. High for twenty-nine years and was a member of NEA, TSTA, AAUW, CRTA, and Sue Hite Study Club. She was also a member of the University Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Survivors include her son, Sheldon Johnson and wife, Tanya, of Wichita Falls, TX; her daughter, Deedy Grimes and husband, Norman, of Graham, TX; seven grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Johnson, Allison, Whitney, Katie, and Mackenzie Grimes, and Norman Grimes, Jr.; and one great granddaughter, Payton Johnson. The family requests memorials be to Canyon Public Library, 1501 3rd Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
