Loretta Dorris

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Church of Christ in Happy with Rick Bloodworth, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery. Mrs. Dorris was born on May 19, 1910 in Iowa Park, Texas to Benton and Edith Fields. She and Frank moved to the Panhandle from Iowa Park in the late 1930"s and began farming. She continued farming after her husband"s death in 1947 and had one of the first Angus herds in the Texas Panhandle. She enjoyed her outdoor life and her grandchildren and great grandchildren"s activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dorris, her parents, and two brothers, Bruce and Gene Fields. Survivors include one daughter, Jane Frost, and husband, Bob, of San Jon, NM; two granddaughters, Robin Slutz, and husband, James, of San Jon, NM, and Michelle Frost, of Happy; three great granddaughters, Shasta, JaTawn, and Brittany Slutz, all of San Jon, NM; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Fields, of Canyon, and Ruth Gard, of Wichita Falls, TX; two nephews, Vonnie Fields, and wife, Ann, of Canyon, and Jim Gard, of Newalla, OK; two nieces, Dorris and Dianne Gard, both of Ft. Worth; and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the Happy Cemetery Fund, PO Box 216, Happy, Texas 79042; or Church of Christ in Happy, PO Box 578, Happy, Texas 79042.
