Services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Davenport and Max Brown, Chaplain of Interim Hospice, officiating. Burial will be held at Dreamland Cemetery. Lois Virginia Lemons was born on December 3, 1921, in Burkburnett, Texas to Jonathon and Lillie Mitchell Barlow. She married her husband of 71 years, Ed Lemons, on March 9, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved to Hereford in 1941, and resided there for 63 years. She was a part of Hereford"s Study Club, WMU, Garden Club and owned and operated Lemons Life Line. She was a Charter Member of Dawn Baptist Church. She attended the First Baptist Church in Hereford from 1967-2003, and prepared meals there for twenty five years. Cooking was Lois" passion. When farming became difficult, while still wanting to help bring in some extra income she contributed to the community in a different way and began "Something Special". Her and a friend began cooking for others either in need or for any other reason. It was her special way of serving God. Lois loved to teach other people how to cook too, especially her two granddaughters. She is very famous for her homemade rolls. They then moved to Canyon in 2003 where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and continued cooking for the community until her health would not allow any longer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Barlow; father, JJ Barlow; Sister, Lucille; brothers Clifford, Elvin, Billy Wayne, Marion, Delbert, TC; she will also join her husband, who preceded her in death 73 days ago. Survivors include her daughter Beverly Grimes, and husband Ray, of Canyon; a son Gary Lemons, of Ruiodoso, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Brian Wagner, Courtney and John Thomas, Jaclyn and Chad Henjum, Jason and Candice Lemons, and Jonathon Lemons; ten great grandchildren, Jourdyn, Kennedy, Kaden, Justin, Lucas, Carrington, Logan, Barrett, Brandon and Griffin; sisters, Louise Galloway of Burkburnett, Texas, and Juanita McMullen of Houston, Texas; brothers JJ Barlow Jr. of Denton, Texas and Shorty Barlow, of Earth, Texas; three step-grandchildren, Edward Grimes, Alan Grimes, and Janice Billingsley; ten step-great grandchildren; and a very special niece, Doris Coursey.
