Lisa Jeannine Lawrence was born October 30, 1949, and passed away on November 12, 2024, just a few weeks after turning 75.
A memorial service to celebrate Lisa's life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Canyon, Texas, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 with Brian Shane officiating. Please come as you are.
Lisa struck out on her own at eighteen and held many jobs over the years, but her vocation was motherhood and from that she never retired. She leaves behind seven children (though as she would gleefully tell everyone, she was only pregnant twice!): Janice Stoner, Raven Attwood, Denise del Pozo, Rachael del Pozo, Kayla Collier, Joseph Palechek, and Paige Palechek, along with thirteen grandchildren: Alyssa, Dakota, Lúthien, Kynlee, Chastyn, Dante, Archer, Elessar, Acelee, Isabeau, Leon, Enzo, and Logan; three great-grandchildren: Cooper, Sadie, and Waylon; and still more foster children whose lives were touched by her love and care. Lisa also leaves behind two sisters, Judith Lawrence and Marilyn Harkness, and many friends, some lifelong, and others met recently at Brookdale Medi-Park West, where she enjoyed her last few years of "retirement."
She was active and engaged over the decades in the communities where she lived through church, Girl Scouts, and Lions Club. Some people take in stray animals; Lisa took in stray humans. Her table was always open at the holidays for anyone.
Lisa was dedicated to her family and also determined in her independence and sense of self. She was forthright, always willing to speak her mind and stand up for herself and her children. She was a lighthouse, bringing love to everyone touched by her light, no matter what storm raged in their lives, or hers. Her faith and inner strength will live on as a legacy and example for all of us who remember her.
