Linda was born on January 27, 1944 in Childress to Abner and Minnie (Glass) Phillips. She was a 1962 graduate of Canyon High School and earned her business degree from West Texas Normal College (now WTAMU) in 1964. She married Wesley Carl Bourn on August 31, 1963 in the Joseph A. Hill Chapel on the WT Campus, and they felt profoundly blessed to raise their family in the town they loved. They were devout Christians and were lifelong, loyal members of the University Church of Christ and dearly loved their church family. Wes preceded her in death on June 13, 2020, after almost 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Linda worked for 23 years at the First National Bank of Canyon and then became the Payroll Supervisor for WT, retiring after 27 years there. She was a deeply dedicated wife and mother, lovingly caring for her family in every way. She was gifted in many areas. Her greatest passions were knitting and quilting, where she was the founding member of the Golden Spread Quilting Guild. She also loved crocheting, jewelry making, and painting, and out of her love for sewing, she formed the 'Hen House' where she gathered with friends to enjoy sewing projects. She was also a talented pianist.
Linda was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her three sons, Edward Wesley Bourn and wife, Paula of Wylie, TX, Carl Wade Bourn and wife, Misty of Amarillo, and Lesley Lin Bourn of Amarillo; seventeen grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114 or to Camp Blue Haven, 62 Camp South St., Las Vegas, NM 87701.
