Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 25 at Brooks Chapel with David Crump, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Lillian ""Lorena"" Long Miller was born December 8, 1940 in Muleshoe, Texas to Samuel Garvin and Bonnie Mae Fort Long. She was the Valedictorian of the 1959 senior class at Three Way High School. From 1959 to 1960, she attended West Texas State University, where she studied Journalism. Lorena married Carl Ray Miller on June 26, 1960. Lorena was the Society Editor at The Canyon News from 1963 to 1993. They lived in Canyon from 1960 until the early 2000"s. She and Carl were members of several clubs serving the community through: Randall County REACT, Canyon Lions Club, and Canyon Jaycees/Jaycettes. She and Carl were also enthusiastic fans for the WTAMU Lady Buffs Basketball team. Lorena enjoyed gardening whether it be indoors or outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Marvin D. Long. Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Miller Marshall and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Griffin Marshall and Delaney Marshall; brother, James P. Long and wife, Merrel and his children, Bill Long and Allison Wegner and their families; step-brother, Larry Trevathan and wife, Marilyn and their children; sister-in-laws, Donna Long, Debbie Cleveland, Neva Watson, Lois McDonald, Sharon Scott, Eleanor Miller, and Delores Hannah; brother-in-law, Kevin Miller and all of their families. The family suggests memorials to GirlsTown USA, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101; Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174; or to Canyon Lions Club, PO Box 548, Canyon, Texas 79015.
