Leslie Hail

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Rev. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church of El Paso, and Rev. Steve Olsen, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Leslie Christine Hail was born on May 4, 1951 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Leonard and Lois McMurry Mullis. She attended Caprock High School and graduated from Littleton High School in Littleton, Colorado. She was also a graduate of West Texas A&M University. She married E. Jay Hail on July 21st, 1979 in Amarillo. She worked at Palo Duro Hospital in Canyon for a number of years and most recently worked at AIG. Leslie was passionate about Girl Scouts and served on the board of directors and as president of the High Plains Girl Scouts Council. She also served as a counselor at Hidden Falls Ranch and was on the board of directors for Maverick Boys and Girls Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Choir and was very active in teaching and directing various departments in the church. Leslie also loved supporting the CHS Band when her girls were in school. She was a gifted seamstress and also enjoyed teaching dog obedience. She was preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include her husband, E. Jay Hail, of Canyon; two daughters, Meghan Hail, of Hanford, CA and Kathryn Hail Begeman and husband, Heath, of Harrold, TX; one grandson, Robert; her father, Leonard Mullis and wife, Ruth, of Littleton, CO; two brothers, Dave Mullis and wife, Sandra, of Cumming, GA and Tom Mullis and wife, Connie, of Lakeland, FL; two sisters, Mary Musil and husband, Jim, of Independence, MO and Julie DuPont and husband, Paul, of Morrison, CO; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be to Girl Scouts of America, 6011 W. 45th, Amarillo, TX 79109, Hidden Falls Ranch, PO Box 136, Wayside, TX 79094, or American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
