Leavena Davis

Services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, with Chaplin Keith Boutwell, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born March 24, 1922 in Chillicothe, Texas to T. M. Thurmon and Trudy Bond Thurmon. She attended Plainview Schools until her senior year before graduating from Littlefield High School. She receive her degree in cosmetology from San Jacinto School of Cosmetology in Amarillo. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Canyon for over fifty years. Leavena was a Canyon resident since 1946, known and loved by many. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cameron Davis in 1992 and her husband, K. E. Davis , in 1997. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Glazener of Fullerton, CA; four sisters, Leavurn Melton, of Garvin, OK, Joyce DeSpain, of Lexington, SC, Norma Myers, of Brentwood, TN, and Monya Jackson, of Wichita, KS; six brothers, Bud Thurmon, of Lovington, NM, Cole Thurmon, of Silverdale, WA, Flake Thurmon, of Centerville, TX, Neal Thurmon, of Amherst, TX, Troy Thurmon, of Houston. TX, and Gary Thurmon, of Lubbock, TX. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, In Patient Unit, 7201 Evans Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106.
