Lawrence Ward

Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 3, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. David Lowrie, Jr., pastor, officiating. Interment to follow at Dreamland Cemetery. Lawrence Ward was born on March 8, 1941 in McAlister, Oklahoma to Jack and Cora Ward. He married Fay Davis on January 7, 1958 in Canyon. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2003. He owned Lawrence Ward Trucking in Hereford for over thirty years. Lawrence was a member of Palisades Baptist Church, Canyon Masonic Lodge #730, and Lubbock Scottish Rites. He was a devoted Dad and Pops and enjoyed fishing and gambling. He was also preceded in death by his father, Jack Ward, two brothers, Buck Ward and J. N. Ward, and one sister, Joyce Green. Survivors include his two daughters, Rita Ward, of Canyon, Debbie Finch and husband, Keith, of Canyon; grandson, Dean Finch and wife, Kaysee, of Canyon; great grandson, Bentley Dean Finch, of Canyon; mother, Cora Ward, of Amarillo; two sisters, Doris Ward, of Amarillo, Louise Williams and husband, Sonny, of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.
