Lawauna Wesley

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 3 at the University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, officiating. Interment will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2 at Brooks Chapel. Lawauna Wesley was born on May 21, 1941 in Plainview, Texas to George and Elwauna Taylor. She graduated from Lockney High School in 1959 and West Texas State University in 1963, where she received a Bachelor"s Degree in Business. On August 22, 1962, Lawauna married Jimmie Wesley in Plainview. Lawauna was a teacher at Canyon High School for 24 years. She retired in 2004. She was a member of the University Church of Christ in Canyon. She was preceded in death by her father, George Taylor in 2000, and a brother, Jerry Don Taylor in 1968. Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Wesley, of Canyon; son, Todd Wesley and wife, Lou Ann, of Amarillo; two daughters, Tracy Johnson and husband, Steve, of Canyon, Terri Woodruff and husband, David, of Canyon; mother, Elwauna Taylor, of Canyon; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2201 Civic Circle, Suite 514, Amarillo, TX 79109, or the High Plains Children"s Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114.
