Laura Miller

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Gene Jones, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Brooks Chapel. Laura Lou Miller was born on July 1, 1921 in Randall County to L.T. and Mabel Gladys Norfleet Campbell. She was a lifetime resident of Randall County and Canyon. She married Odell G. "Luke" Miller in Canyon on February 5, 1938. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1990. Laura Lou worked as cashier at Anthony"s for many years and also worked as receptionist at Schooler-Gordon Funeral Home and continued as receptionist when it became Brooks Funeral Directors. She was also a hospital auxiliary volunteer at Palo Duro Hospital and a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday School and church activities. She was also preceded in death by her son, C. L. Miller, on November 12, 1992, and her daughter, Billie F. Miller, on June 29, 2002. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Deanna May and husband, Don, of Canyon; one brother, Jack Campbell, of Farmington, NM; four sisters, Loraine Gray, of Bonham, Juanell Blasingame, of Farmington, NM, Rosalie Rea, of Bushland, and Carolyn Morgan, of Arlington; three grandchildren, April Wells and husband, Scott, of Canyon, Thom Scott and wife, Tammy, of Richmond, VA, and Whitney Clark and husband, Gary, of Canyon; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
