Larry Burrell

Larry Burrell, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003 in Amarillo. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2003 at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, with David Rindlisbacher officiating. Mr. Burrell was born on May 22, 1914 at Fort Dodge, Iowa to Walter and Augusta Mayne Burrell. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving from 1939 to 1955. He received the Purple Heart in 1943 as a member of the aircraft carrier WASP. He married Cleva Lutz in Virginia in 1941. He was a mason. He was preceded in death by eight siblings. Survivors include his wife, Cleva Florene Burrell, of Amarillo; two sons, Lawrence Marvin Burrell, Jr., of Jupiter, FL, and William Miles Burrell, of Canyon; two sisters, Maxine Phipps and Leona Swenson, both of Iowa; four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Craig Methodist Retirement Home, Donation in the name of Cleva Burrell, 5500 W. 9th Amarillo, Texas 79106.
